Selecting "Grant Marie's wish" will trigger the standard ending and resume the battle with Eve, while choosing "Refuse Marie's wish" will begin the sequence for the true ending and transition to the battle with Cartesia. If Giselle is alive at this point, the player will be given the option of seeing either the standard ending or the true ending once Eve's health reaches half. When facing off against Eve, the player must then continue on to deplete her health until she is defeated (as a result, Eve is the final boss of the normal ending and Cartesia is never fought or alluded to at all). In order to receive this ending, the player must not raise Klaus' Affinity to its maximum level before Chapter 8, which in turn leads to Giselle's death in Chapter 10. Sense Data appears in the final moments the game, where she commends the player for completing the game and hints at the possibility of another ending where everyone survives that being the true ending. Somberly gazing at the Moon through his window, Alto resolves to make a better tomorrow with the hopes of meeting Marie again someday. Alto returns to his room after the celebrations, where he imagines Marie embracing him. With Mother Qualia destroyed and Regnant saved, the Tuning Knights make their triumphant return to Lambert where they are hailed as heroes. Before disappearing, Marie is assured by Alto that because of her being born from positive emotion, they could possibly meet again one day. Marie has a heartfelt talk with the Tuning Knights and requests Alto send her love to Rena as well. Marie is separated from her counterpart once again, but begins fading away due to her existence's dependency on the now-destroyed Mother Qualia. Eve appears in her imperfect form and expresses her feelings of new-found peace, which she had never felt in her life, before fading from existence. At the battle's conclusion, Eve is weakened and mortally struck down by Alto.Īccepting the feelings in Marie's heart and Alto's resolve, Eve complies to the destruction of Mother Qualia. Despite their reluctance, the Tuning Knights comply and continue the battle. Eve's counterpart calls out to the party, begging them to kill both her and Eve. As the battle draws on, Eve finds herself cornered by the Tuning Knights and resisted by Marie whom she had thought completely assimilated into her being. The Tuning Knights confront Eve in Mother Qualia's Hall, where they engage in her in the final battle.
